The NEO temperature estimating instrument (pyrometer) (ref. 75-276) is used to measure the surface temperature of an object with an accuracy of +/- 1.5%+1 °C in the range -50 - 880 °C. It can be used to estimate the temperature of a variety of hot, hazardous or hard-to-reach objects without contact. This device consists of optics, a temperature sensor, and includes a signal amplifier, processing circuit and LCD display. The optics collect the infrared energy emitted by the object and focus it onto the sensor. The sensor converts the energy into an electrical signal and this is displayed as a digital reading. The device works non-contact. The measurement is taken in degrees Celsius or Fahrenheit and the result is displayed on a colour LCD. The pyrometer is powered by two AAA batteries. The device is not a medical device
